Something A Little Different

today i've got a little something different
no delicious recipes to try
or pictures to persuade you to stray
from your (quickly approaching) bikini season diets.
just a simple request.

Rainbow-bookshelf_large

my new years resolution this year was to
read 50 books in 52 weeks.
aggressive, i know.
so far, i'm a little behind
and thats where you come in
i need suggestions!
have any great new finds or old favorites to recommend?

  1. Books - depends on how a fast read you want but following are my favourite books:
1 - A Prayer for Owen Meany: it is quite thick but the first line will hook you for good.
2 - any of the John Sandford's the Prey series: true crime thriller book but love the writing
3 - Pride and Prejudice: just because John Firth played Mr Darcy
    4 - Perfume: just because ...

Will come back when I think of more titles.

  2. Time Travelers Wife, The Potato Peel Pie Literary Society are great. I also really enjoyed Half the Sky, though it's a quite intense look at gender inequities worldwide.

  3. -Time Traveler's Wife!!
    -Water for Elephants
-Same Kind of Different as Me
-Chelsea Handler's books (if you like her humor) and they are super quick reads - Chelsea, Chelsea, Bang, Bang; Are you there vodka? It's me, Chelsea; The Horizontal Life, A story of one night stands

  4. I was going to recommend several above there! I would say also:
The Hunger Games Trilogy: Suzanne Collins
    The Help: Kathryn Stockett
The Hiding Place: Corrie Ten Boom
    The Host: Stephanie Meyer
The Count of Monte Cristo: Alexandre Dumas
I love all of the books written by Shannon Hale as well
I could go on and on, I go in spurts with reading, I'll read a lot for a few months, and then stop for a few months. Good luck! I look forward to seeing what you will read :)

  5. Have you read "The Book Thief' ? It became my most favorite after the first few pages. You must read it. Ashley has my copy but she is being lazy so ask her for it!

  6. A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini.... the same person who wrote the Kite Runner. A bit harrowing, but very moving and a testament to the strength of women. (Oh, and I found you from the Wingnuts blog and look forward to exploring your blogs further... I can already tell we have lots in common!!)
